Housekeeping is a very important department within a hotel. The department is responsible for toiletries, linen and cleaning supplies, laundry and proper upkeep of the hotel. This lesson is about: - Introduction to the Housekeeping Department - Different supplies used. - Safety measures to be taken by the department.
How To Carry Out This Lesson At Home:
1. Get familiar with the Housekeeping department. Follow the PPT presentation until slide 6.
Task 1: Complete the worksheet about the Housekeeping department.
2. Follow the PPT presentation to learn about supplies used within the Hospitality department.
Task 2: Watch the following video: Colour coding for cleaning equipment. Create a poster to put at the Housekeeping area of your school workshop indicating the colour codes of equipment.
3. Safe lifting and handling techniques are very important for the employees’ health and safety. Linen and supplies in Housekeeping may be very heavy, especially when linen is wet. Watch the following videos to learn about proper handling and lifting techniques.
