The Dar tal-Providenza was founded by Michela Topardi in 1965 to provide a warm, family-like home for individuals with special needs who cannot always be supported by their families. Currently, the facility accommodates 100 residents aged 9 to 80 and offers regular respite services, allowing some residents to attend schools, work, or engage in various community activities. A dedicated group of the Sisters of Charity, along with about 200 volunteers, support residents’ daily needs, while the facility relies on fundraising activities and the generosity of benefactors to maintain its operations, which cost approximately €3.9 million annually.
