In today’s design and technology lesson, we discussed orthographic projection, which is a 2D representation of a 3D object. This technique includes various views such as the front, end, and top views, allowing engineers and designers to visualize objects accurately. For example, a cylinder is depicted in these views: the front shows a rectangle, and the top shows a circle. Additionally, hidden lines can be used to indicate features not visible from certain angles, providing more clarity in working drawings like those of a bicycle or a bench.
