In today’s lesson, we focused on aquaculture, discussing how it operates and the benefits and problems associated with it. We also explored biodiversity in the Mediterranean, specifically the species of fish found in its waters and the increasing consumption and exportation of fish from Malta. The lesson highlighted the risk of extinction for certain fish species, such as tuna and salmon, due to high demand. Finally, we examined the role of aquaculture in alleviating pressure on wild fish populations, noting its growing popularity in Malta and its commercial viability.
