Welcome to the second section where we’ll discuss “the time.” In the previous lesson, we learned to express time in Mandarin such as “äºç¹” (WU-DIAN) for five o’clock and “äºç¹ä¸å»” for quarter past five. This lesson introduces the characters “å” (fèn) meaning “minute,” and “鶔 (ling) meaning “zero,” teaching students how to express times like ten o’ five as “åç¹é¶äº” (shà diÇn lÃng wÇ) or with the minute as “åç¹äºå” (shà diÇn wÇ fèn).
