Welcome to the second section where we’ll discuss “the time.” In the previous lesson, we learned to express time in Mandarin such as “五点” (WU-DIAN) for five o’clock and “五点一刻” for quarter past five. This lesson introduces the characters “分” (fèn) meaning “minute,” and “零” (ling) meaning “zero,” teaching students how to express times like ten o’ five as “十点零五” (shí diǎn líng wǔ) or with the minute as “十点五分” (shí diǎn wǔ fèn).
