In today’s lesson, we discussed desertification in the Sahel, a semi-arid region located south of the Sahara Desert in Africa. Desertification refers to the degradation of land quality, primarily caused by a combination of natural factors and human activities. We examined the hardships faced by the local population due to water scarcity and the solutions they are implementing, such as tree planting, to combat the effects of desertification. Sustainable land management is crucial for improving conditions in this region and addressing the challenges posed by desertification.
