In this lesson, we explore the rich biodiversity of rainforests, specifically focusing on both temperate and tropical types. Rainforests, which cover only 6% of the Earth’s surface, provide habitats for over half of the world’s plant and animal species and play a significant role in global climate regulation by absorbing carbon dioxide and producing oxygen. However, due to deforestation driven by economic and developmental pressures, these vital ecosystems are at risk, potentially disappearing within the next century without sustainable intervention efforts.
