What Should You Expect From This Lesson?
Child will learn the song Il-Vapur ta’ l-Art. Child will sing along and imitate engine sounds. Child will learn some information about this means of transport.
How To Carry Out This Lesson At Home:
Step 1:
Look at the first slides of the PowerPoint presentation attached to get some information about this song.
“Il-Vapur ta’ l-Art” was composed by Joe Tanti and performed by the Greenfields in 1973. To open the slideshow enter the following password: musicshines
Step 2:
Read the lyrics (text) of the song. These words were written by Mikiel Spiteri (Kilin).
Step 3:
It is suggested to proceed with some voice warm-up exercises as indicated in Book 2 (page 70).
Step 4:
Continue by listening to the audio file and/or watching the video attached.
At the beginning it starts with a slow tempo, resembling the train departing from the station accelerating to full speed. This song contains onomatopoeic words, which means word pronunciation imitating a sound. You can reproduce the sounds of the train: Ċiki, ċiki ċi! Ċiki ċiki ċu! Tut! Tut! Ċiki, ċiki, ċu!
Step 5:
Now look at the following slide where standard notation is presented. Listen to the song by pressing the speaker (top-right) whilst following the music. Move slides (left, right) by pressing the green buttons at the bottom.
Step 6:
Now go back and sing along!
