What Should You Expect From This Lesson?
Child will learn the name of the treble and the bass clef. Child will name some instruments which use these clefs. Child will learn how to draw the treble clef.
How To Carry Out This Lesson At Home:
The clefs
Follow the powerpoint presentation.
Step 1:
There are several different clef signs that are used in reading music.
The two clefs that are most commonly used are the treble clef and the bass clef.
Step 2:
The Treble Clef is used by instruments which are high pitched.
Can you name some instruments who are high pitched?
This includes the violin, trumpet and clarinet.
The Treble Clef is also called G clef. It indicates that the second line from the bottom of the staff represents the note G.
Step 3:
The Bass Clef is used by instruments which are low pitched.
Can you name some instruments who are low pitched?
This includes the double bass, tuba and bassoon.
The Bass Clef is also called F clef. It indicates that the fourth line from the bottom of the staff represents the note F.
Step 4:
How to draw a treble clef:
Start from the red dot, on the G line (2nd line from bottom).
Follow the arrows around: clockwise spiral, go up, back down and stop at the black dot.
Trace the treble clef following these directions using your pointing finger.
Step 5:
Now you can practice drawing the treble clef on the handouts attached. Remember to start from the 2nd line from bottom!
