What Should You Expect From This Lesson?

The lesson is about the building and embellishment of St John's Conventual Church of the Order of St John in Valletta, focusing on its use by the Knights, the baroque works of art found in it, its use as a Co-Cathedral in British and contemporary times and its importance as one of the most visited historical and cultural sites by tourists.

How To Carry Out This Lesson At Home:

Teaching objectives of the lesson
Students will learn about how the Conventual Church of St John was built in Mannerist style by Girolamo Cassar and embellished with Baroque works of art by Caravaggio, Mattia Preti and Romano Carapecchia in the 17th and 18th century. Students will learn to appreciate these works of art and the importance of this Church nowadays as a Malta’s Co-Cathedral, together with the Cathedral of Mdina and the Museum of St John’s Cathedral, one of the historical and cultural sites visited by thousands of tourists every year.

Observe carefully each picture source and the written text on each slide. Choose the language version (Maltese or English) which suits you best.

Once you went through all the slides in the power point, refer to the last two slides with the questions (Maltese or English version). Read the questions carefully before attempting to answer them.

Step 6
Start answering the questions on a word document in this manner:
