What Should You Expect From This Lesson?

The lesson is about the French invasion of Malta, the expulsion of the Knights, the French occupation, the revolt of the Maltese and the blockade of the French in the Harbour towns until their capitulation to the British in 1800.

Students will learn how and why the Maltese Islands fell to the French in 1798, why the Maltese revolted against the French after just three months and why the French blockaded themselves in the Grand Harbour towns and fortifications until they surrendered to the British in 1800..

• Marking scheme for the questions in the power point (Maltese and English version).

Step 1

Task
While watching the video, list FOUR arguments expressed by the speaker that Malta would have been better off under the French than under the British.

Step 2
Open the power point presentation in pdf format on the French invasion and occupation of Malta.

Step 3
Observe carefully each picture source and the written text on each slide. Choose the language version (Maltese or English) which suits you best.

Step 4
Once you went through all the slides in the power point, refer to the last two slides with the questions (Maltese or English version). Read the questions carefully before attempting to answer them.

Step 5
Start answering the questions on a word document in this manner:

• Type in bold each question from the power point.
• Type in normal font the answer under each question.
• Enter a line space between each question.
