What Should You Expect From This Lesson?
The objective of this lesson is for students to understand the relationship of dependence, and the types of vulnerability that lead to this dependence. In this lesson we explore Environmental Vulnerability.
How To Carry Out This Lesson At Home:
Step 1: Watch the video on You Tube to see how humans around the world are affected by their environment and how that puts them in a vulnerable position. (Environmental Vulnerability – refers to the depletion of natural resources and resource degradation).
Step 2: Research one other type of the following types of Vulnerability:
Physical Vulnerability – refers to the physical infrastructure or housing
Social Vulnerability – refers to the social situation of individuals. (Health, education, emotional struggles, loneliness, access to health care, opportunities to improve)
Economic Vulnerability – refers to the economic status of individuals, communities and nations (poverty, unemployment, lack of food, hygiene etc.).
Step 3: Write your thoughts about the following:
How has the COVID-19 pandemic made people vulnerable? (refer to the four types of Vulnerability above)
