What Should You Expect From This Lesson?

Lesson Objectives: • To extend the notion of a friend to classmates; to get the children to see their classmates as friends. • To introduce classroom friendship as a special kind of relationship based on the perception of the class as a community.

How To Carry Out This Lesson At Home:

Step 1: Think!
Do you recall the story of Little blue and little yellow? Can you narrate it in your own words?
(If you do not remember the story, you can watch it here: http://ed.ted.com/on/uylKj6vo#finally)

Step 2:
Little Blue and Little Yellow became close, their colours combined to make a new colour. This means that Little Blue influenced Little Yellow in some way and Little Yellow influenced little Blue as well.
Here are a few examples of how we are affected by the behaviour of others.
A parent may show a child that it is important to be patient with others, so the child may start to be more patient.
A teacher may show kindness and prompt students to be kind and thoughtful toward one another.
Can you think how your friend affect the way you think and behave?

Step 3:
People don’t always influence (or change) people for the better. Perhaps there is a person who litters and when his friend sees this, he begins to litter also. How do you think some friends can influence us to do bad things? What should you do on such cases?

Concluding activity
Draw a picture of Little Blue and Little Yellow, depicting the scene which they liked most.
