What Should You Expect From This Lesson?
The objective of this lesson is to distinguish between domestic from non-domestic animals, and to explore the distinction. It is very important to get to know that ‘wild’ means – animals live without the intervention of humans as opposed to domestic animals, which need humans in order to survive.
How To Carry Out This Lesson At Home:
Step 1:
Watch the video “Pet, Farm and Wild animals”
Step 2:
Look at the pictures of the animals “Animal pictures” and discuss with someone at home.
• How would you group them? Why? (You can choose to print, cut and sort the pictures)
• Which animals can be kept as pets?
• Which animals are kept in farms?
• Which animals are wild animals?
• Which animals are domestic animals? (Pets and farm animals)
It is important that at this point the children know that wild animals live without the intervention of humans and they find food and shelter on their own while domestic animals need humans in order to survive. Humans need to take care of domestic animals by providing food, shelter etc.
Step 3:
Sheet – Sort the animals into wild and domestic animals.
